Grading Categories

25 % In Class Work – Occasionally, graphic organizers or other in-class work will be collected and graded for credit.

25 % Tests and Quizzes Tests will be given once each quarter. They will have content questions, grammar questions, and a reading skills

20 Essays and Projects– Essays will have multiple drafts, usually an in-class essay graded for content, a second draft, and a final draft graded by rubric for writing. Late essays will lose 10% each school day they are late (minimum 50%). All essays must be submitted to Google Classroom.  

15 % Homework – Usually will be nightly reading and notes (dialectical journals) and is due at the beginning of class. Late work worth 70% credit.

15 % Midterm & Final

**Without completing all summative assessments (essays, tests, discussions) students will be unable to pass the semester**
